The University of Aberdeen

Aberdeen University has had a longstanding relationship with the Highlands and Islands.  Aberdeen has been regarded as the local University for many living in the Highlands.  Medical students have been taught in Inverness and other parts of the North of Scotland since the early 1970’s.

When the Centre for Rural Health was established in 2000 it was done in collaboration with Aberdeen University. It is also one of 3 Scottish Universities charged with the task of assisting UHI to full University title.  A further important link with Aberdeen is the training programmes for junior doctors established jointly between Inverness and Aberdeen which have operated very successfully for many years.
