Highland Health Sciences Library

A modern health sciences library must address the information needs of a highly sophisticated workforce. In addition to providing a stock of some 30,000 books and subscribing to 100 current journals the Highland Health Sciences Library also contains an Information-skills Training Room equipped with 12 computers. A further 12 computers are also available for use in the main library building all of which have internet access through Stirling University’s network.

There is also a group study area with a movable partition and a comfortable seating area for reading journals, magazines and newspapers. The library is run by Stirling University with financial support from a variety of sources including NHS Highland.

The main users of the library are nursing and medical students and healthcare staff in the Highlands but as the Centre for Health Science grows the demand for library services will expand from other academic institutions and commercial organisations based in Inverness, such as Lifescan (Scotland). The library occupies a focal position in the building, adjacent to the café.
