Vision

It is expected that the three-phase Centre for Health Science will act as a catalyst for further healthcare related developments in the Highlands and Islands. This will benefit the economy of the area, help with the development of the Health Faculty for UHI, and improve the quality of healthcare in the community. Eventually, when new courses are developed for training healthcare professionals, it will help to stem the flow of young people from the Highlands and Islands leaving to train elsewhere.

The Future

Plans are now being developed to build a new innovation campus which will accommodate the new Inverness College and buildings for UHI.  A Centre for Innovation and Management is also a priority.  Further growth for Lifescan could also expand into the new campus which will be located across the A9 from the current site.

Already plans for Phase 4 of the Centre for Health Science are being developed which may incorporate a Centre for Health and Wellbeing Research and an Academic Institute for Primary Care.  The Campus site is a consideration for the location of this fourth phase.

The Campus will be one of the most significant development projects in the Highlands and Islands in the next 20 years and an important centre in the planned expansion of East Inverness.  It has been estimated that Inverness Campus could ultimately generate in excess of £50 million per annum to the Highlands and Islands economy.
